Action Research Insights

Research [Methodology]

From February to April 2021, this action research engaged 26 professionals in a 3-month mindfulness workshop led by Buddhist monks. Participants, aged 35-70, came from diverse fields such as education, technology, and business consultancy. With a mix of CEOs, directors, and scholars, the study highlighted the potential of mindfulness to foster better leadership.

UNDERSTANDING IS KEY

The [Science] Behind Our Techniques

It is vital to understand that although the “Supernormal Eightfold Process (SN 56.11) for Introspective Leaders” is grounded in authentic teachings from the Buddha, it does not attempt to summarize or conclude the Buddha’s central outlook on experience. Instead, the “Supernormal Eightfold Process (SN 56.11) for Introspective Leaders” adapts selective insights from Bhante Punnaji’s interpretation of the Buddha’s teachings. These ideas have then been researched and modified to serve the distinctive role of corporate leaders. (Hewawasam, 2022)

The ID, EGO and SUPER EGO
[Sigmund Freud]

Famous for psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud introduced the concept of ego and id and their relationship which are in parallel with the relationship between emotions and intellect found in Buddha’s teachings (on which the original practice of mindfulness is based).

OUR Path

Mindfulness is the [Seventh Step] of the
Eight Step Process

Our practice of mindfulness is a progressive ascending of a flight of steps in the Supernormal Eight-fold Way known as The Noble Eightfold Path (ariya attangika magga). Aligning with Bhante Punnaji’s teaching, ManoLead uses the word Supernormal instead of the common term “Normal” because of the term ‘Ariya,” used by the Buddha, means something above the normal. Our services and people set us apart. Everything we do to transform leaders are meticulously planned down to the finest details.

Meet Our [Research Gurus]

Our research, services, and people set us apart from other organizations. Everything we do to transform a leader’s life is meticulously planned, down to the finest detail. We aim to connect you with world-renowned Buddhist monks who are directly involved in our research. Although we emphasize meditational practices and the original teachings of the Buddha, our research is entirely separate from any religious aspects. Instead, our goal is to bring the true meaning of mindfulness to the forefronts of the West. To deliver the best results, we follow an action research methodology within a “do-it-yourself” framework that encourages personal development and growth.

The Art of [Mindful] Leader

Conflict can be resolved only by undoing the personalization (anupadana) – Buddha (MN.24)

The cognitive gets subordinated to the affective. The cognitive splits into two – one taking the side of emotions and the other taking the side of thinking. Conflicts arise when people tend to personalize either the affective emotions or the cognitive reasoning, resulting in power resting on the side (cognitive reasoning or affective emotion) that is being personalized.
